The Weavers
Lulan currently supports over 650 weavers, spinners, dyers and finishers in various weaving centers and cooperatives in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and India. Our weavers are master artisans, expertly using centuries-old techniques to create intricate hand-woven textiles. They rightly take pride in their art-many of them are invested fully in the whole creative process-from producing the organic materials, to dyeing, spinning and warping the loom.
Lulan honors our weavers by embracing a holistic approach that includes respecting regional nuance in selecting fabrics and materials and taking every measure to be environmentally sensitive, safeguarding their health and their community's health. By paying them ample wages and being the bridge to get their product in the design marketplace, Lulan preserves our weavers' dignity and provides for their long-term economic security.
Our goal is to add more weaving centers to increase the number of artisans, expanding our production and our reach. Lulan's unique business model entails forming artisan partnerships with independent weavers whom we support through community and skill-enriching benefits.
